Tuesday April 3: Prague

After a snowy NY departure we arrive in Prague. After meeting out guide we head into the city for mass at the Carmelite church of the Victorius - famous for the statue of the Infant of Prague. After mass we rested up a bit before heading out to dinner and a show of traditional Czech music and dancing. The food was great too!

Wednesday April 4: Prague

After morning mass at the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius we met our local guide Nina. Along with our trip guide Pawel, she led us from the heights of the old monastery down a long 5 mile walk past the Cathedral of St. Vitus and down through the old town, castle, district, and Malastrana. We eventually crossed the Charles bridge before returning to our hotel for dinner.

Thursday April 5 Prague to Altotting and Salzburg

Today we made our way to Salzburg by way of the beautiful city of Altotting in Germany. It is a long drive but the scenery along the way was wonderful. At Altotting we celebrated mass in the church of Sts. Philip and Jacob . This is a very special place and afterward we visited the Chapel of Grace with an image of Mary. Many miracles are attributed to this special place. Altotting is also the city of Pope Benedict's childhood. The town is also knows for a beautiful basilica church and the monastery of St. Konrad. After visiting these sights we traveled into the heart of Bavaria on our way to Salzburg.

Friday April 6 Salzburg

We spent the day wandering the streets of this beautiful mountain city. Salzburg is the city of Mozart's birth and a wonderful center of music and faith. We visited the cathedral and Hohensalzburg - the fortress that overlooks the city. It was a beautiful day so we took plenty of time for lunch and for some much needed shopping!!!

Saturday April 7 Mariazell

Today we left Salzburg for Vienna. On the way we visited the beautiful mountain village of Mariazell. This town is one of the most visited by pilgrims in all of Austria. It's basilica is beautiful and houses a miraculous image of Mary. We took time to pray the rosary together, have lunch, shop, and take in the mountain scenery. Then we continued on to Vienna.

Sunday April 8 Vienna

Our day began with mass at the beautiful Schonbrunn Royal Palace Chapel. We then met a local guide, Ulrika, who gave us a tour of the Palace, the old section of Vienna, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. After our tour we each took time to explore, enjoy a lunch in the sun on this beautiful day. We plan to return to the palace tonight for a Strauss and Mozart concert!!

Monday April 9 Budapest

After morning mass at St. Stephen in Vienna we headed east and a little south to Budapest. On the was we enjourd a real Hungarian lunch as we crossed the border. Upon reacing Budapest we visited a site called the Citadell in the Buda hills with an amazing panorama of the city and the Danube river.

Tuesday April 10 Budapest

After Morning mass at St. Matthias we visited the Fisherman's bastion with its excellent views of the city. We also took a full city tour with our local guide Piotr and enjoyed a typical Hungarian lunch of goulash! After lunch we had time to visit the market and wander the old streets before our final dinner.
